PixConvert App Privacy Policy

The short version

PixConvert processes your photos, PDFs, videos and audio on your device. We never upload, store or see your files. The app has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email or phone number. The only time any of your content leaves the device is if you choose to use an online voice (see below).

Your files stay on your device

Every tool in the app runs locally on your device. That includes the photo tools (compress, convert, resize, crop, rotate, metadata removal, watermark, collage, screenshot stitch and blur), the AI tools (background removal, AI upscale, face blur, passport photos and speech to text), the PDF tools (merge, split, organize, compress, scan, image to PDF, PDF to images and unlock), the video and audio tools (compress, trim, convert, mute, rotate, speed, GIF, audio extract, audio convert and cut, text to audio) and the utilities (QR codes, barcode scanning and image to text).

Your files, their contents, camera frames, recognized text, transcripts and PDF passwords are never sent to us or to any third party. Results are kept in a private temporary folder until you save or share them, and are removed the next time the app starts. They are saved only where you choose: your gallery, a file location, or the share sheet.

Images saved by the app have GPS location data removed by default, so a shared photo does not reveal where it was taken.

When you scan a QR code that contains a link, the app checks the link for warning signs on your device. The link is not looked up online. It opens in your browser only if you tap it.

Features that use the internet

Processing your files never needs a connection. A few features download something once, or reach a service on your phone, only when you use them:

• On-device models from Google Play services (Android): background removal, document scanning and some text and barcode recognition use Google ML Kit models. Google Play services may download these once. Only the model is downloaded; your files are not sent.
• Speech to Text models:speech models are not included in the app. When you choose one, the app downloads it once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), the public repository of the open-source whisper.cpp models, and keeps it on your device. The download sends no information about you or your files, but like any download, Hugging Face receives your device's IP address and standard request details. Read Hugging Face's privacy policy. Transcription then runs fully offline. You can delete downloaded models in the app.
• Online voices (Text to Audio and Image to Audio):voices are offline by default. If you turn on "Allow online voices" and pick a voice marked as online, the text being turned into audio is sent to your phone's own speech service (for example, Google Speech Services on Android) so it can create the audio. That service is provided by your phone's speech provider under its own privacy policy. PixConvert has no voice server of its own and receives nothing except the finished audio. Your files, images and other data stay on your device. You can turn online voices off at any time in Settings. On iOS, all voices run on your device.

Permissions

• Camera: used only when you take a photo to edit, scan a document, read text or scan a QR code or barcode. Camera frames are processed on your device and are not stored or transmitted.
• Photos and files: you choose them through the system photo or file picker. The app cannot see anything you do not pick.
• Notifications: used only to show the progress of long jobs, such as a video or audio conversion, and to tell you when the result is ready. They show on your device only.

The app does not use your microphone, contacts or location. Speech to Text works on audio and video files you choose; it does not record you.

Data we collect

To keep the app stable and improve it, the app uses the following Google services. None of them receive your files or what is in them.

• Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports, including stack traces, device model, operating system version, app version and an installation identifier.
• Google Analytics for Firebase: app usage events (for example, which tool was opened and whether a job succeeded), an app instance identifier, and approximate location derived from your IP address. The app does not collect your Advertising ID.
• Google ML Kit: on-device machine learning for background removal, face detection, text recognition, barcode scanning and document scanning. ML Kit sends Google diagnostic information such as device model, operating system version, app version, performance metrics and a per-installation identifier. It does not send your images.

We use this data only to fix bugs and understand which features are useful. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone other than these service providers. It is encrypted in transit.

Data stored on your device

The app keeps the following only on your device. None of it is uploaded or sent to analytics, and uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

• Settings: for example the theme, pinned tools, and your chosen voice, speed and pitch.
• History: the tool used, the time, file sizes and where a result was saved or shared. It never holds file names, paths, thumbnails or text.
• QR scan history: the text of codes you scanned, so you can find them again. Wi-Fi codes are saved without their password.
• Downloaded speech models and simple usage counters.

Your choices

• Pause or clear History in Settings.
• Turn online voices on or off in Settings.
• Delete downloaded speech models in Speech to Text.
• Because the app has no accounts, the data we collect is linked only to random identifiers, not to you. You can reset these identifiers at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the app starts using a new service that collects data, it will be listed here before that version is released.
