Frequently Asked Questions

PDF to image conversion explained.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion is done entirely in your browser using PDF.js (Mozilla's open-source PDF rendering engine). Your PDF file never leaves your device. This makes the tool safe for confidential documents.

What's the difference between 72, 150, and 300 DPI?

DPI (dots per inch) controls output resolution. 72 DPI is screen resolution — small files, adequate for web previews. 150 DPI is good for most digital use cases. 300 DPI produces print-quality images — larger files but crisp at any zoom level.

What's the difference between JPG and PNG output?

JPG uses lossy compression — smaller files, suitable for photos and scanned pages. PNG is lossless — larger files but pixel-perfect, ideal for PDFs containing text, diagrams, or screenshots where sharpness matters.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs?

Not directly. If your PDF is password-protected, you'll see an error message. Use our PDF Unlock tool first to remove the password, then convert the unlocked PDF to images.

How many pages can I convert at once?

There's no hard page limit. Each page is rendered and exported in sequence. For large PDFs (100+ pages) at 300 DPI, conversion may take several minutes depending on your device speed and available memory.
