Remove EXIF Data from Images

Strip GPS location, camera model, and all personal metadata from your photos before sharing — done instantly in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

Clean Your Images Before Sharing

Strip all personal metadata from photos in seconds — privately, safely, and without losing image quality.

100% Private

Every image is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server — not the file, not the metadata.

One-Click Strip

Drop your image, click Strip Metadata, and download the clean version. The entire process takes under 5 seconds.

Preserve Orientation

Optional orientation correction applies the correct rotation to the pixels before removing the EXIF tag — no sideways images.

No Quality Loss

Only the metadata is removed. Pixel data is completely untouched — your image looks exactly the same.

All Major Formats

Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF. Each format's metadata structure is handled with precision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about removing EXIF metadata from images.

Why should I remove EXIF data before sharing photos?

EXIF data can contain your GPS location (where the photo was taken), camera serial number, and the exact date and time. Removing it before posting online protects your privacy and prevents others from tracking your location or identifying your device.

Will removing EXIF data change how my image looks?

No — the pixel content of your image is untouched. We recommend keeping orientation preservation enabled so the image stays correctly rotated without relying on the EXIF orientation tag.

Is my image sent to a server?

Never. All processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your image file is never uploaded or transmitted anywhere.

What metadata fields are removed?

All EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata are removed. This includes GPS location, camera make and model, exposure settings, ISO, date and time, software, copyright, author, and any other embedded metadata fields.

Can I use this for PNG and WebP files too?

Yes. For PNG files, text chunks (tEXt, iTXt) and EXIF chunks are removed. For WebP files, the EXIF metadata chunk is stripped. JPG and TIFF support the most comprehensive metadata removal.

What does preserving the orientation option do?

Some cameras store rotation information in the EXIF orientation tag rather than rotating the actual pixels. If you remove this tag without applying the rotation first, the image may appear sideways in apps that do not read EXIF. Enabling orientation preservation applies the correct rotation to the pixels before stripping the tag.
