Usually, yes. The invoice asks for money, while the receipt proves you got it. Send the receipt once the payment arrives, showing the date paid and how it was paid. Shops that take payment on the spot often skip the invoice and give only a receipt. Our invoice generator covers the first step.

A receipt usually shows the seller, a receipt number, the date, what was bought, the amount paid including tax, and the payment method. This tool prints all of those, plus an optional customer name and a footer note. It has no field for a logo, tax ID or time of sale.

The tax is the subtotal times your rate, rounded to the cent, and the total is the subtotal plus that tax. You set one rate, and decimals like 8.875% work. At 0% the Tax line is left off. There is no field for a discount, tip or service charge.

The PDF is one page, 80 mm wide and 200 mm tall, the width of common till receipt rolls. Print it at actual size and trim it, or email the file. On a receipt printer that accepts PDFs, the fixed length may leave blank paper below a short receipt.

About 22 one-line items fit with a business name, address, phone, customer and the default thank-you note. The receipt never adds a second page, so a longer list loses the note first and the total from about 26 items. For a long order, split it into two receipts or use the invoice generator.

The item column holds about 25 characters per line and prints two lines at most, so a longer description loses its end. The on-screen preview still shows it in full. Keep names short, such as "Oat latte, large", or put details in the footer note.

Ten: US dollar, euro, pound, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, yen, rupee, real, Mexican peso and Swiss franc. Every amount uses US number style with two decimals, so yen shows .00 too. The rupee sign does not print correctly in the PDF yet, so check the file before you send it.

Yes, for a real sale you made. A receipt records a payment between you and your customer. Making a receipt for a purchase that never happened, or copying a store receipt to claim money back, can be fraud. This tool has no store logos or brand layouts, only your own details.

Not yet. The top of the receipt is your business name in bold, with the address and phone number under it, and there is no image upload. A clear business name and phone number are enough for customers to find you again.

No. The form lives only in the open tab and empties when you reload or close it, so download each receipt before you leave. Nothing you type is sent to us. On the live site, Google Analytics counts page visits, but it never sees the receipt itself.

Yes. The number starts as RCP plus six digits from the clock, and the date starts as today. Both are editable, so you can follow your own series, such as 2026-014. The tool does not remember your last number, so keep your own list.
