A Bitmap Inside EPS

The tool wraps the pixels of your image in an EPS file. It does not trace them into vector paths, so the EPS prints sharp at its own size but blurs when enlarged a lot.

Resize Keeps EPS Files Smaller

EPS stores every pixel without compression, so files get very large: a 1.80 MB photo became a 95.72 MB EPS in our test. At 1200 pixels wide, the same photo was 4.78 MB.

Frequently Asked Questions About EPS Conversion:

Answers about making EPS files from your images.

How do I convert a JPG or PNG to EPS?

Drop the JPG or PNG on the box at the top of this page. EPS is already chosen as the output, so press Convert All and then download the file. You can add many images at once and get them back in one ZIP.

Can I convert EPS to PNG or JPG here?

Not yet. This page can't open EPS files, because reading PostScript needs an engine the browser version doesn't include, so an EPS you add shows 'Conversion failed'. For now it only makes EPS files from your other images.

Will the EPS be a vector file?

No. The converter places the pixels of your image inside the EPS without tracing them into paths. It prints cleanly at its own size, but it won't scale up like true vector art. If a printer needs vector EPS, the artwork has to be redrawn or traced first.

Why is my EPS file so much bigger than the JPG?

EPS keeps every pixel as plain text with no compression, while JPG and PNG compress the picture. In our test a 1.80 MB photo became a 95.72 MB EPS. Lowering the width under Resize cuts the size the most: at 1200 pixels wide it was 4.78 MB.

Does PNG to EPS keep a transparent background?

No. EPS files from this tool have no transparency, so clear areas get a solid color before saving. White is the default, and you can pick another under Background in the settings. To keep a see-through background, save as PNG or WebP instead.

Can I convert SVG to EPS?

Yes, but the result is a picture, not vector paths. The SVG is first drawn at twice its own size, up to 8,192 pixels a side, and that image is saved as EPS. To draw it larger or smaller, set a width under Resize before you convert.

Can I convert many images to EPS at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you need; there is no file limit or daily cap, and every image can be up to 100 MB. They convert in turn, and Download All packs the EPS files into pixconvert-batch.zip.

What is an EPS file used for?

EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) is an older print format that layout programs, print shops and sign makers still ask for. It can hold vector art or a plain picture. Files made here hold a picture, which suits forms and layouts that only need the EPS format.

Can I change the quality of an EPS file?

There is no Quality slider for EPS, because the pixels are stored without compression and nothing is lost. The one setting that changes the file size is Resize, where a smaller width gives a smaller EPS. Strip metadata and Background also apply.

Is this EPS converter free and private?

Yes, it's free with no sign-up and no watermark. The engine runs inside this browser tab, so your images stay on your device. We count basic usage such as page visits and how long the editor stays open, never file names or image data.
