Open WebP Images Anywhere — Convert to JPG

Not every app opens WebP. Convert to universally supported JPEG in seconds, right in your browser. No installs, no sign-up, no file uploads.

Why Convert WebP to JPG?

WebP is cutting-edge but not universal. JPEG works everywhere — always has, always will.

Optimized for Sharing

JPEG is supported by every image viewer, email client, CMS, and social platform on the planet. Convert once and share without compatibility headaches.

Zero-Upload Processing

All decoding and encoding happens locally in your browser tab. Your WebP images never touch our servers — instant and private by design.

Handles Both Lossy and Lossless WebP

Whether your WebP was saved as lossy or lossless, our converter decodes it correctly and produces a clean JPEG output either way.

When You Need WebP to JPG Conversion

Compatibility Issues

  • Opening WebP images saved from Chrome in software that only reads JPEG
  • Uploading product images to e-commerce platforms that reject WebP
  • Sharing screenshots or images with colleagues who use older image viewers

Print & Publishing

  • Converting WebP assets for use in print workflows that require JPEG or TIFF
  • Preparing web-sourced images for inclusion in Word or PDF documents
  • Supplying JPEG versions to designers who work in Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress

Social Media & Email

  • Attaching images to emails where WebP thumbnails fail to render in Outlook
  • Preparing images downloaded from modern websites for WhatsApp or Instagram sharing

How to Convert WebP to JPG

1

Upload your WebP file — click to browse your device or drag the file directly onto the converter. Multiple files are supported at once if you need to batch-convert a folder of WebP images.

2

Set your desired JPEG quality level using the on-screen slider. For photographic WebP images, 85% quality gives you an excellent JPEG with file sizes typically 20–40% smaller than a 100% quality encode.

3

Click Download and save your fully compatible JPG file immediately to your device. Batch conversions produce a ZIP archive so you can grab all your JPEG files in one download.

WebP to JPG — Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about converting WebP images to JPEG format.

Why can't I open WebP files in some programs?

WebP is a relatively modern format developed by Google. Older software — including some versions of Windows Photo Viewer, Microsoft Office, and many print applications — was built before WebP existed and therefore lacks a decoder for it. Converting to JPEG solves this immediately.

Does converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?

If the WebP was lossy, some quality was already discarded during its original encoding. The conversion to JPEG introduces a second round of compression. At quality settings of 85% or above, the additional degradation is typically imperceptible. For maximum fidelity, use the highest quality setting your use case allows.

My WebP file has a transparent background — what happens after conversion?

JPEG does not support an alpha channel. Transparent areas in your WebP will be filled with a solid white background in the output JPEG. If you need to preserve transparency, convert to PNG instead.

Can I convert animated WebP to JPG?

Animated WebP contains multiple frames, but JPEG is a still image format. Our converter extracts the first frame of an animated WebP and converts it to a static JPEG. The animation itself cannot be preserved in JPEG.

Are WebP files from Google Chrome safe to convert?

Absolutely. Chrome frequently saves images as WebP automatically when you use 'Save image as'. These are standard WebP files and our converter handles them without any issues.

How do I convert multiple WebP files to JPG at once?

Drop multiple WebP files onto the upload zone simultaneously. Our tool processes all of them in parallel using separate WebAssembly threads and lets you download each converted JPEG individually or all at once as a ZIP file. There is no practical limit on how many files you can batch-convert in one session — the converter keeps going until every file in your queue is done.
