PSD to JPG — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about converting Adobe Photoshop PSD files to JPEG format.
What happens to PSD layer transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG doesn't support transparency. Any transparent areas in the PSD — including transparent backgrounds and partially transparent layers — are composited against white in the JPG output. If you need transparency preserved, convert to PNG instead.
Will all my Photoshop layers be visible in the JPG?
All visible layers are flattened into the JPG output. Hidden layers are excluded. Layer effects (shadows, glows, blending modes) are rendered into the final composite — exactly as seen in the Photoshop canvas.
Can I control the JPG quality and compression level?
Yes. A quality slider lets you balance between file size and image fidelity. For client presentations and web publishing, 85–92% quality delivers an excellent balance. For archiving, use maximum quality.
Is PSD to JPG conversion lossless?
No — JPG uses lossy compression by design. Some fine detail is discarded to achieve smaller file sizes. At high quality settings the difference is imperceptible to human vision. If you need lossless output, use PSD to PNG instead.
How large will the JPG output be?
File size depends on the PSD canvas dimensions and the quality level chosen. A typical 2000×2000px PSD at 90% quality produces a JPG around 500 KB to 2 MB. The original PSD layer file is usually 10–50× larger.
Is my PSD file private during conversion?
Yes. Conversion is entirely browser-based — your PSD never leaves your device. No files are uploaded to any server, ensuring your client work, unreleased designs, and confidential assets remain completely private.
